Today I finished the last of my home grown veg for my two pigs. they have had turnips, carrots, kale, sprouts, cabbage beetroot also strawberries and apples. Its worked out quite well I think so plan to do it again in the future. Did mean less room for our veg but most of that I grew in the pollytunnel. I buy nets of carrots for the ponies at £3 which the pigs now get too. Fancy growing melon this year for a change and a few other things. Happy piggies.

They sound very spoilt babies Well done you. Pigs adore lush melons we used to get boxes of really ripe ones off the market at the end of the days trading but sadly a nasty man from the council stopped us by saying we had to have a waste licence!  Jobsworth! Now they just go in the skip to landfill
Keep growing most of what we grow goes to the pigs too so you're not the only one.

We did the same Sabrina.
Have you the space to grow lots of pumkins? It can be hardwork chopping them up but they loved them - the seed core seemed was always the first to be eaten.

I think that I over fed them on apples and sweet chestnuts that I had gathered by the wheelburrow. The last 3 GOS were a bit fatty but taste great.

Are pumpkins hard to grow. I have plenty of room.

Actually I did not plant any seed last year when  I started the courgettes and butternut. Somehow I had 4 plants growing out of last years compost and about 8 growing in veg beds that I had spread compost on!. I transplanted about 6 - each into about 2 feet diameter 12 inch deep mounds of rotted manure. It gets hot here so I did water each plant. My guess is that they ran to about 8-10 meters over unweeded grass land.
We got quite a few from our 12 plants !!
