Spoke to the park yesterday, they said all animals had been rehomed and the newspapers had got hold of the story and blown it out of proportion. (Their words not mine.)

It had been on the market for months but it looks like they'd messed with the Charities Commission as the CC successfully blocked the sale.

The land is owned by the vendors but the animals and equipment were apparently property of a trust they set up, Fife Animal Trust and I imagine there would be other items/investments that might be dual funded or unclear, but either way it wasn't going to be sold as a going business concern with everything on view included, so sad as it is, it's probably their easiest way out to let the animals go and sell only what they have legal ownership of if the charitable trust is wound up.

Howe Country (formerly Dabbs Equestrian) just up the road has also been on the market for a year or more and couldn't make the business pay despite a high turnover with regular events etc plus trying all sorts of additional activities like auctions and a music festival.  FAP also seemed to offer storage for caravans etc and whatever they could think of to do.  But I think any animal/public interaction zone like a farm park is so inundated with H&S regs and insurances that it can't be easy to make any kind of income when feed prices are high and family leisure budgets relatively low..

And families seemed to favour the Deer Centre as an animal attraction.

i once had newspapers phone me up when i was advertising the free rehoming of a pet sheep - they hoped there would be a big sob-story behind it and wanted to write an article on him...er no!!! how embarrassing that would be!

Was at the Animal Park this afternoon.  (They kindly took in my three girls 15months ago.)  Nearly all of the animals are in their new homes.  Those that are left will be heading off to their new homes soon.
My girls went to their new home this morning.  Was supposed to be tomorrow, probably just as well as I cried buckets all they way home.  (relief and thanks that they have gone somewhere nice and I can still go and see them)
Was sad to see that Patsy's Pantry was closed as well
