I saw this story myself and couldn't quite believe it - I'm no expert on this but how can anyone think that cloning on an industrial scale is good for the pigs or for humans?

I'm no expert either, nor do I condone the way the Chinese treat their animals in general.

but is pig cloning really such a problem?

They are doing it to further our understanding of diseases which affect us, to enable food to be produced more efficiently and therefore improve how well we can feed ourselves.

I'm not a fan of animal testing for cosmetic purposes or keeping animals in poor conditions but when it can help us learn more about ourselves and possibly let us find cures and feed ourselves better then it is acceptable to me.
