My two bagots have been out today as the sun is shining, but the girl when she came in for the evening is quiet and not eating, she has curled up in the straw. The boy is fine and eating as normal, this is unusual for her, however she has just yesterday finished her second round of season, and yesterday I as mentioned on a seperate topic started them on a tiny amount of calf rearer pellets. these were just mixed with the normal food. Could either of these be the reason, her bottom is clean and she feels normal not cold, just quiet and not eating. Do i need to call the vet?

does her belly feel a bit bloated? maybe the frosty grass has given her a sore belly.
i would monitor her and see how she poops/wees and hopefully a good bit of wind will make her feel better.
had they had any hard feed at all before introducing the calf rearer? if not just give a handful max a day as it takes time for the digestion to get used to it.

Keep a close eye on her, but I don't think there's enough symptoms there to warrant the vet yet. She could be a little constipated.

My girls went out on Christmas day afternoon ( as it was  :sunshine: for a change), and the kids in particular came back in and just crashed out.... they had been racing round the field for most of the hour and a half they were out.

So if your girl hasn't been out for a while she may just have been tired...

But I also never let mine out when there is frost on the grass, as they are not used to it and it is known to cause bloat.

How's your girl now?
She may just have had an uncomfortable gut, with the change of food?

We called the vet out, who felt she might have a stomach problem, injected her with pain killer, antibiotic and something else, she seemed okay, we checked her twice in the night, each time she got up and seemed alert, then in the morning we found her dead. dreadful, the vet on checking her when we called him out did say she had a heart probelm the beat was off in some way. I taked it through with him after and he felt the stress of the stomach ache maybe have brought on a heart attack. My boy is adjusting and spending longer with the sheep, at this point I am wondering why we put ourselves through the heartache. Thanks for asking.

That's awful. I guess the heart beat thing had never been noticed before?
