I want to send money as gifts to Australia but am confused as to what to  use, mainly due to safety as I often get spam E mails from Pay Pal and Amazon....I just want to send a money gift that's going to get there instantly and cheaply yet safely....H E L P!!

Can you get the recipients bank details? Not the most exciting of gifts (no surprise) but if they give you their IBAN and BIC/SWIFT numbers, you should be able to do a direct account to account transfer. You won't get the best exchange rate but it shouldn't be too bad and the charges are normally pretty good if you're not in a hurry. To be honest, I've never transferred money to Australia but having lived 'abroad' for nearly ten years, I've transferred money between international bank accounts pretty frequently and that's how I've always done it.

My daughter has sent me money that way  before......they do not want me to send money as they know my finances but we have some money put buy and so I want to send it via their E Mail address rather than ask for their bank details!! I could do Amazon too

I have no idea how you can send via Amazon? If they've got a Paypal account you should be able to just send a credit to that - but again you'd need their details. Or could you just buy vouchers for something on line?

If they've sent you a bank to bank transfer before, can you find out their bank account details from that? Just do the same thing in reverse?

well just sent one lot via pay pal, they are on  holiday until after Christmas and last year they lost their vouchers...well not the ones I sent...anyway, 1 down 2 more to go..thanks..my other daughter has so many names and so many E mails I am not sure the one I need to use....

She should only have one that Paypal will accept, or perhaps two if she has a business one but that would be in the business name.

Money is sent now she told me her E mail, she has several businesses we have 3 pay pal accounts, I had to double check I got mine and not Steves as that's where I put the money!

Well I truly messed up, I was multi tasking and my husband was playing a game on the I pad that stopped me receiving my confirmation E mail until his battery ran out  , anyway, I then got the confirm bank details and realised I had opened the account in my  now name but my bank was in my old name...so now, after sending some ID proof I have to close it and start again, however, one lot of £ has been sent as they are on holiday for Christmas and I wanted the money for them to use on holiday.....this is a warning to all those multi taskers with the TV, Facebook, Tas and a moany husband in the back ground........leave it until you can concentrate
