children... don't you just luv 'em (not)?
« on: July 15, 2013, 10:17:56 pm »
After much of the last 2 weeks spent on the beach (for which I resolutely refuse to bare anything more than my knobbly knees), my daughter is rather obsessed by beach attire. I was getting changed yesterday and she said 'look mummy you look just like the women on the beach" (ie like a bikini).

Then after a short pause: "Except they have straight up and down bodies like me". :o

Where have the diet books gone to..... :'(

She knows there a man/boy bits and women/girls bits and the ewes/goats/hens all get 'kissed' by the boys but as she is 6 that's enough for now. It was't them she was referring to but all the other bumps and lumps...

The thing with children is they are not deliberately hurtful, they just have to tell the TRUTH.

I have enlarged the text because the 'truth' is usually said in the loudest voice at the most inappropriate time. My daughters 'whisper' would be considered 'normal' decibels for anyone else, whilst 'normal' could fill a theatre.

Of course when it suits their own devious ends of course......lies, fibs, non-truths come more easily. ;)

and my horse mad middle daughter cuddled up to  her granddad and said " I love you granddad  because you smell like a Donkey"  we all found that funny as he had an aversion to washing :innocent:
I have worked with children for years and find them so naturally real,  never forget a boy who wanted to  use the toilet at the nursery but there was someone inside so  he just wee weed up the door!!

Some years back (but not that many) I was teaching in Sunday School and one of the children asked if they had cannons in the first world war. I didn't know which surprised him. "Weren't you there then?" I was 14 at the time.
