Hi,
I know this is the season for cockerels but I'm chancing it.
I've got a Cuckoo Marans Cockerel hatched 14th May by broody. He's a lovely looking bird although I'm no Marans expert. £5 - otherwise I'll be better off eating him! Near Ashford in Kent.
Also my main cockerel who was hatched last year. He's useless for breeding because he's not a pure colour - I think he's a blue or lavender/buff Orpington cross but is a great cockerel - looks after his hens nicely and he is gorgeous to look at, even if his colours are all over the place. He's looked after my hens nicely this season but I need to get some decent breeding cockerels in so sadly he has to go (actually he was supposed to be a pretty hen just for eggs but the breeder had got that one wrong and it wasn't worth the petrol to take him back). He doesn't crow very much and he's not very loud when he does - at times sounds more like a gargle gone wrong - so he shouldn't be hugely annoying to the neighbours. Free to a good home - he's a bit old to be good eating.
Thks!
Hester
