Think Ive lost a chook.
« on: July 04, 2013, 09:28:22 pm »
Went to put the chooks to bed tonight, and found  that my Miss Grey wasn't in the house. Blondie now sleeps alone in the barn so I searched to see if MG was there with her, no luck. I saw her early evening with the others and I haven't heard any panic sounds, (fox) so I don't know where she could have gone The boys were also out there with the girls guarding them. Such a shame, she was lovely and a great layer. Down to 2 now until the new house is in situ when we shall get some more. Jethro doesn't like Blondie, so Miss Red is going to have a very rough week or so!
Ill be praying that Miss Grey returns in the morning. :fc:

Weird, I've gained a cockerel that I found wandering our field tonight and a neighbouring farm rang me up to say they'd found a stray hen and did we want it - doubt its Miss Grey though - seems a bit far to have walked!

I lost 2 the night before last, one of old age and the other I found minus her head outside. I'd been trying to gather them all in in but she was getting so stressed out with me chasing her I gave up and left her in peace, wish I hadn't now  :( :(

I cant believe it!!! was giving Blondie a little treat this morning, I spoil her as she is on her own, when I just had an idea. I opened up the door of the barn next door and there she was! I cant believe I missed her last night, as I go in there to get their food to go to bed with. She must have been hiding, little scamp. Ive never felt so please to see a chicken as she is one of the funniest with her huge fluffy bloomers!!
I don't know what it was, but I had a little feeling in the pit of my stomach last night that she was hiding somewhere, it was weird. It goes to show that I have to trust my feelings a bit more. Thanks for you all crossing your fingers folks, much appreciated as usual.

thats great news, they hide in the daftest places. I managed to miss 2 last night despite searching everywhere but they were waiting by the feed bin for me this morning.
