Some of our hens
« on: June 28, 2013, 07:02:30 pm »
Just trying another picture out as the one I posted in the herb section was rather huge !
I started weeding the border in our garden, then the rain came on so I wheeled the barrow of weeds into the hens garden for a treat ( they got rid of most of the greenery in their garden 3 years ago)

Spoilt hens as you can see, they even have a proper bath in their run as opposed to using a dust bath  :roflanim:

Happy healthy chickens in a very neat area Fanackapan. Were they eating the weeds or just scratching in them? I had to cover our compost heap as it was scattered everywhere given the chance. But I did notice that in a very short time they got fed up eating worms and went back to scratching in the grass.

There seemed to be a system going on , the hens in the barrow are the top of the pecking order hens so they were doing the scratching for worms bit, however as they were scratching the weeds were flying everywhere and so the lower order hens were quite content cleaning those up. Teamwork eh?
