Our pigs are having a bad time with the west of Scotland midges. Would anyone have any ideas how to help them out? The midges are swarming round the pig ark and seem to be attracted to my pigs eyes. Would a fly net or something work? I'm worried this wouldn't let enough air into the ark. Thanks

Bog Myrtle is supposed to help, planted round the ark and maybe hung in dried bunches inside too. As far as I can find out, it doesn't matter if animals eat it too.

I've also been squirting my goats with Barrier fly repellent which is citriodiol (lemon eucalyptus) based - same stuff as Mosiguard- but you can't use that round eyes, it would sting (ask me how I know  )

Thank you both very much for the ideas, I will try source the suggestions. Unfortunately one of our pigs we found unable to move her back trotters today, very upsetting but the vet has sedated her and we've to keep a eye on her. No x ray machines nearby so not sure if anything is broken. Hopefully we can help her out with the midges!
