Decided to lift the rubber mats in the stables and wash the floors plus the mats. Put them outside and gave them a good scrub. Came in for a coffee break then out again to get on with the job. The noise in the building got very loud, hail stones then thunder. I had planted out cabbage and leeks at the weekend. Wrecked with the hail stones. Got so depressed as everything is weeks behind as it is. Potatoes are not even through and even the plants in the pollytunnel are slow. Apple trees are just begin to come into leaf but no sign of flowers. We can only hope that summer when it does come goes on into October. Only 40 days and the nights get shorter again  :o :o :o

Days get shorter , nights get longer !
But that is so depressing , 40 days .
Same here really apple trees still only just coming into leaf , we had hail yesterday and rain all day today .
Gooseberry bushes have baby fruit on , as do the redcurrants , strawberries may have been eaten by bunnies , spuds are through , all redcurrant cuttings have good leaf growth , so should have rooted ok .
Lots of seed sowing to do now !
Must get blackcurrant , whitecurrant , pinkcurrant  and red gooseberry , blueberry , honeyberry and raspberry plants/cuttings ,  and strawberries maybe , oct/nov, for next year .
This year may be another flop ?

Don't panic Sabrina  8)   I haven't even planted my potatoes yet  ::) :roflanim:  - too much rain  :raining:  They will catch up once the warm weather arrives and you will hardly notice veg being just a few days later.

We had the hail today too so I was pleased I have planted early crops inside my polytunnel.  Last year everything outside was demolished by slugs, so I'm growing many things inside, or some of each inside and outside as insurance.  :garden:

I suppose that giant Icelandic Ketla (?) volcano could blow and that would wipe the smile off my face, but we'll just have to deal with that when it does happen

Or we could all be drowned by the massive tsunami when that island made of a volcano off Tenerife erupts and sends half the island into the sea....:-)))

Had hail here too today, am having to buy in seedlings as haven't been able to sow anything without a poly tunnel but on the other hand I'm finally getting out riding the pony and the days are long (for now)...

Might not be this year, though!

The farmers around here are just finishing off the tattie planting. Weeks and weeks behind everybody...
