Thought moving a colony 400 miles, with limited room in the back of the landy (4 dogs, 2 cats plus 3 newborn kittens & 10 bantams) with a trailer-load of Kunekunes a little too risky 

So ...
Got an empty hive waiting for some new residents if/when anyone has any - please 
Could consider a barter ...

I can't help with your request but we had a visit from the bee inspector yesterday. He confirmed that the one hive we have left is on its way out. Nuc's are costing £150 and upwards at present.
He suggested that we put a hive, with some drawn comb in it, on our stable roof or somewhere similar that is high up. Apparently thats the best situation for a swarm to move into if you are lucky. Especially as the local swarm co-ordinator already has a long waiting list.
It can't hurt to move a hive high up  while you are waiting

Ah - good idea    will get the hive sited this week!
 
Just hope it stops  long enough for colonies to think it's worth swaming

Our colonies are very late and I don't think we'll have any swarm issues around here!! Although £150 for a NUC sounds good I have to replace my lost hives by splitting.

Good luck, although according to our bee inspector the apiaries down in Pembs are doing quite well.
