I'd love to know what runs through their minds to think that something like that was a good idea. Did they at no point think "hang on, is this a bit silly?".

Well , when you think about it , the car that took the photo was being overtaken ! ..the windage on the front bale must have been enormous , so when that bale gets shredded the whole load comes loose , another nice mess and no hay to show for it ..... :innocent: :innocent:
