He sounds like a very passionate and fiesty man to me  ::) , however, maybe in the job for the wrong reasons  as I am on the fence due to both sides of the ditch being equally mucky  But, no, if I did, I wouldn't :innocent:

Whilst the man obviously has problems (I think with the demon drink) I saw him give a remarkably honest interview after the last time he hit someone in the house of commons.  Whilst accepting he was in the wrong he did point out that the world of politics is totally alien to his background.

In the working class area where he comes from (and if I remember correctly he was in the army which was probably the same) disputes were discussed face to face and sorted out practically (with the odd fist if required).  In most cases politicians sort out disputes by character assassination, destroying careers and families, leaking personal information to the press and blackmail.

Discuss:  Why is it that we see one type of aggression (a punch) as unacceptable yet a far more damaging and long lasting type of aggression as more acceptable (just because it doesn't involve a physical conflict)?

The main trouble is with  physical stuff brute force wins, the poor weaker person would get it all the time, not all people actualy want to fight!!
If things were sorted out this way, the fighters would win all the time......unless we had funds to pay some one to do our dirty work then that smacks of something I would rather not have, although I do suspect it goes on more than we think.
I worked in Corby and came into close contact with a contract killer, he was after some one I was trying to protect, thankfuly he was caught and given a holiday in a nice warm place with all meals provided, in his real life he was an unwanted child where beatings were the way to sort things out, all that showed him were big people can pick on small ones!!
I dare say a few people who have been bullied or in violent relationships would certainly not condone any form of violence to solve an argument ::)

I think teh same happens verbally.  Character assassination is done by people who are good at manipulating words, stalking others (internet and by other means), finding things out about them, and twisting them to suit themselves.  I don't think there'e much difference to be honest. It's a dog eat dog world unfortunately.

Verbal abuse can be very damaging and leave lasting damage.  I'm not saying that physical abuse doesn't but that they are equally bad.

And, no I wouldn't vote for him.

Never heard of him before but on tonights news it was reported that he took a swing at some one in the police station too, now anyone should at least be able to  hold it together in a police station!!!
Keep meaning to add MGM, I went through a fair bit of the verbal stuff in the past, like I think  you and a few others on here have, I know how much it hurts but my point is no one would want to get beaten up for thier views....especialy if you are a public figure.....I met a few wife and children beaters and they also thought they were right
