I'm not quite sure why the BBC focussed so much on Sussex. We certainly had huge drifts over some of the roads here in Kent (just over the hill from us the farmer couldn't get his tractor out and had to use his forklift to shift enough snow to get through) and at one point the M20 was at a standstill for about 5 junctions due to various things. I think the BBC just found it hard to get the pictures! Having said that, I don't think any of the major roads were quite as deep under as your photo but I'm also not sure how that's happened -I thought only the UK would allow their roads to get that covered.
