What can I keep Pheasants with?
« on: March 09, 2013, 08:52:08 pm »
I recently bought half a dozen pheasents, as I quite like them.  I was intending to keep them housed with chickens, but apparently chickens can host a virus that pheasants cannot tolorate, and will die.  Is this correct?

Can I house them with turkeys?  I've tried searching online, but I don't think its a question commonly asked!

As far as i know the only problem with pheasants being near chickens is gapeworm but if they are wormed regularly with flubenvet its not a problem. Not heard of any other problems.

I have been told that pheasants harbour something fatal to chickens and they MUST be kept entirely separate. Can't be more specific than that from memory. When we had a pheasant fly into the chicken enclosure and kept coming back I felt compelled to shoot (and eat) it.

After a little research it seems the disease CORYZA keeps coming up but there is a lot of conflicting information.
