Masters Fine Wool Project
« on: February 21, 2013, 01:51:54 pm »
Hello,

I am a masters student at Heriot Watt University and studying Fashion and Textiles management in Galashiels. For my project I am researching into Scottish Fine wools and their potential in the Scottish Textile industry. I have already spoken with NFUScotland and BWMB however I would really appreciate the knowledge from some farmers, particularly of Shetland or fine wool types.

Thanks for your attention!!

And what do you want to know?

For Shetland wool (as in from Shetland sheep) you could contact Jamiesons in Lerwick (woolbrokers) on Shetland - all the info about Shetland wool you may need.

Other lead on Shelands would be the breed society - Shetland sheep society. Don't have the website address to hand at the moment.

Scottish Fibres supply native fibres for spinners etc.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
