Birthday Present from Hubby!
« on: January 25, 2013, 10:36:56 am »
I may moan about him but he is a diamond really. On my birthday in october, my lovely hubby offered to make me a new chicken house. He's been unable to make a start on it as he had carpal tunnel surgery at the end of october, but he's now asking me for designs of what I'd like. Yay! I'm thinking garden shed with perches and nest boxes. He's coming up with some ingenious plans for nest boxes.... And this is from a man who has hated chickens all his life!  :D
Silly Spangled Appenzellers, Dutch bantams, Lavender Araucanas, a turkey called Alistair, Muscovy ducks and Jimmy the Fell pony. No pig left in the freezer, we ate him all!

Well done to your OH. It is so nice when you can both enjoy the same interests, even if it is in a slightly different way.  ( you supervising while he builds  ;) ,then you making good use of the chook house   :D )

My OH is quite good at offering to build me things (when time allows).

He asks me what I want, I make it clear. then he builds something HE thinks would be better.
Unfortunatly he doesn't have much to do with the animals, so usually what he builds never gets used.
Like the goose shelter in the bottom field. 3' high, door facing south in the long side I asked for, got a door in the end so the geese never went into the long 'tunnel'. however the hens decided to lay in there and I have to scramble right to the end to get the eggs  :(

Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.
