Due to the advent of chemicals the old methods were lost, now chemicals aren't so popular due to various reasons (better educated?) you need to go full circle and back to the old methods.

Back in the day posts had their ends cut to a point then were heavily charred in a fire before being driven in.
Charred wood doesn't rot you see.

Just had to replace another 8 post that only went in 5 years ago. All suppose to be treated wood. :farmer:
