Yesterday morning I was walking down to the local shop for a bottle of milk when I spotted a nice shiny penny at the side of the road. Remembering the old saying "See a penny, pick it up, and all day long you'll have good luck", I put it in my pocket. Then yesterday afternoon my bloody tractor broke down.
Then this morning I fed the chickens. They were all ok. I went to get water for them and when I came back five minutes later my Light Sussex cockerel, Shagger, who we've had since he was an egg and has been absolutely brilliant, had keeled over and died. One minute he was fine and the next he was dead. No injuries or anything he must have had a heart attack or something.
So next time I see a shiny penny in the gutter I'll bloody leave it there.
