Hello from nr Whitby N Yorks
My wife and I have been at our small holding in the NY Moors park for the last 6 months, settling in with a growing troop of furry/feathery friends and mud!

We moved from suburbia after being fed up with the usual livery yard atmosphere and decided to get our own place with space.

I've found all the local farmers/villagers so nice, it's just a pity it's rained so much this last year!

We've got ducks, chickens, horses and 60 of my neighbours sheep to keep the grass down.

I've already read the posts on here and found them really useful.

We are hoping to breed some ducks shortly but if anybody needs some eggs to hatch you can let me know.

The adventure begins....

Now that's my wife's department but since I spend every morning platting tails and mucking out I remember one is a Dutch Warmblood and other is a rather chilled thoroughbred!
(both get more attention than me)

Hi and welcome from East Yorkshire

Sounds fab, what kind of ducks are you thinking of breading?

We have also made the decision to escape the rat race, waiting until spring for goats, chickens, ducks etc as we have some learning and preparing to do.

Good luck

Hi. and welcome!

Ducks seem to be the most sensible livestock in this increasingly wet climate...

Hi
Welcome from just other side of hills between Stokesley & Northallerton.
Mad pig keeper here, my OH says he gets in line behind 8 pigs and one labrador ;D  so join the club! We have a litter of piglest due this next week so he'll be even further down the line. If you're ever over this way give me a shout.

Hello, yes Im hoping to escape the rat race, however, houses with land aren't cheap as you know so working full time and maintaining 8 acres is tough enough. I cancelled my gym membership in week 2 when it became abundantly clear digging, cutting, hammering etc was the only exercise I would need.
I'm recycling jeans from my teens which now fit!

We've got a mixture of aylesbury, khaki Campbell and white Campbell ducks as well as some ex bats which haven't stopped laying. Got an incubator off Santa but I can only eat so many eggs if anyone in the area wants free hatching eggs let me know.

So that's another drainage ditch dug today and a barn fixed, sheep moved and hooves picked out.

Its a steep learning curve!

Hello and welcome from Durham
Santa was keen for a surge in egg hatching this year, he brought me an incubator too. Unfortunately I can only keep hens on our allotments so no duck until we find somewhere suitable to live.  Will be interested to hear your hatchling stories  :excited:
