Hello from the Lleyn Peninsula

Hello everyone,

newbie here, i have been visiting this site for over a year now and finally can say that myself and hubbie are now living the dream in our first smallholding (8 acres) on the beautiful Lleyn Peninsula.  We have moved in 2 months ago now and are getting ready for our chickens, the new chicken house will be arriving on Monday for us to erect, we have a greenhouse to sort out and are thinking of setting up a polytunnel for growing as much as possible!

Does anyone local to the Pwllheli area know of any one sellling point of lay chickens in the vicinity?? ;)

Hi and Welcome Shelly   from a miserable Carmarthenshire.
I was thinking of getting a poly tunnel myself. Do you need planning permission?

Hello and welcome!

Sorry I am a bit too far away to recommend anyone for chooks, as we are in central Scotland. Why don't you try posting in the poultry or marketplace sections?

Hi and welcome from  :sunshine:  Worcestershire    I do have pol chucks but am too far from you.  Cyril Bason does hybrids for about £7- £9 he might be worth contacting, as if he is too far he may know someone nearer.

 Welcome from me in Clackmananananananan..whops Clackmannan Central Scotland, moved here 5 years ago and its my home now, was Leicestershire BUT, I had an uncle who lived on the Lleyn Peninsula, Hells Mouth but it has a welsh name that I cannot spell unless I copy from a map, his daughter still has a house there that she lets out for holidays, she now lives in Liverpool, her brother in Glasgow,  mums family were brought up in N Wales , lovely place and every time I visited your area it was HOT, then go inland and it would rain!!!  I only have a few hens until we move as I run a B&B
That uncle lived by his wits and grew his own veg, fished etc........a charactor that is still talked about there!! :innocent:

Hello I'm another newbie to the forum.
Vince and Sharon Mears run Treddafydd Farm (google for contact details) on the Lleyn they have hens so should be able to tell you where you can get some good chooks from. Good luck!
