Hi,
Stumbled upon this site many months ago and have decided that now I am on the cusp of leaving the Armed Forces and turning my wife's horse grazing into a part small holding (she doesn't know yet) that I would join to benefit from others who have taken this path. Whilst having dabbled in poultry (ex-caged hens for eggs and conscience) I haven't had the time to devote to anything more...so this is the start of my journey and hopefully I'll have a few stories to share along the way ... from raising weaners to growing lettuce. Please stand by for loads of questions...some stupid I am sure.

Just moved from West Sussex to East Yorkshire, (back home and more affordable houses).

My H left the forces a few years ago went into IT and now we are trying to find away of generating income from our new but previously unloved smallholding.  Looking forward to sharing a few stories (with a remote glass of wine).

Hi and thanks for all your welcome messages...been a busy period with the cold and wet over Christmas but looking forward to a good week where I can get some prep work done. Lost all my chickens just before Christmas to a fox - still unsure as to how he got in the pen but alas he took them all. On the plus side, as they were ex-caged they at least had a good 8 months of free ranging and fresh air.
