Aberystwyth - Cowley Middx
« on: November 29, 2012, 05:13:43 pm »
I'm off to my Mum's tomorrow for a few days as she is finally come out of hospital after having been in for a couple of weeks and having quite a rough time of it and us being sent for one night as it didn't look good.
How are the roads along the A44/B4027 Bletchingdon Islip Wheatley Road/A40/M40 looking, for those of you in those areas?
Hoping for a good ride.

I used to live in Cowley when I was nursing at Hillingdon hospital!  Sorry can't help much with roads but good luck with the journey (still got some Hayes/cowley/w drayton peeps on my FB if you need to know roads that way?) xx

I was at Uni in Aberystwyth - it takes ages to get anywhere;D

Good luck.

Just as a by-the-by. I love it up there and would move back tomorrow if I could.

You are right about it taking ages to get anywhere. It will take me 3/4hour just to get onto an A road from where I am.  ::)

Hillingdon is the hospital she is in. She went in as an emergency as she had to have an endiscopy (Not sure if that's the right spellling) to see where she was bleeding, had a small repair job, o.k. a couple of days in hospital, then ended up in the CCU. They had given her 4 lots of blood after her repair job as she was a bit peaky and anaemic, but that seemed to give her pulmonary failure, a bit risky as she already has a heart condition.
She is very weak now, and her husband next to useless, hence the journey to help her get settled back in a home. :)

Now what are the chances I met you in A&E then Russ!! how weird would that be? I was there between 1991 and 2003.  My 2 eldest were born there.  I was a student nurse there and then a gynae nurse, gynae sister (wouldnt' have met you there russ lol!) and then clinical site manager (ie. out of hours manager with all the stress and scary stuff) and spent most of my day in Casualty for that role.  Brilliant place - miss it loads. Some amazing staff

The years don't match plums , i left Ruislip for Wales when i was 20 in 1977 , so my visits were between 73 and 77 . My brothers and sisters were born between 62 and 72 . Not sure where my older sister was born , but she was born in 54 , and may have been there . I was born in Catterick army hospital in 57 , so i am not even a Londoner really . Got lots of family around there still though , so you may have bumped into one of them .
It was a good hospital though , got my nose reset and a few other broken bones sorted there too .

Good luck with the journey. I was also at uni in Aber, used to call it the back end of nowhere when describing how to get there!

Hope your mum is doing better and the roads are clear.
