Always something.
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:08:54 am »
OH away on another holiday in the USA and went out to give the horses a couple of hours on some better grass before bringing them in and Aussie one of our sec D's had a very bad cut on his pastern. It was bleeding quite badly and he wasn't in the mood to be cleaned up.

Managed to get him into the yard and washed the cut out and called the vet who cannot get here till late morning (9 am now).

This sort of thing never seems to happen when she is here ::)

So far, over the last 8 years, while she has been off having a nice time I have had to have one put down due to a twisted gut and it took her about 2 years to get over the loss of her favorite horse.

Then one got bad laminitus and was in for weeks and now this.

I'm fed up of horses at the moment and seriously thinking of selling them and buying her a quad bike.

I wonder if a change in their routine unsettles them and they become more twitchy hence more accident or illness prone?  Animals always seem more sensitive to change than we realize, and after all they dont know she has just gone on holiday and will be coming back

But whatever it always upsetting when and animal is ill especially when you are "responsible" for someone elses pets/stock

Vet has been. Quite a deep gash, but no damage to tendons. Both horses now in for a few days while he heals up.

Thank goodness it wasn't any worse and thank goodness for rubber stable mats.
