I have most of my Christmas shopping done apart from my 81 year old mother. She has asked for a warm winter skirt. Sounds simple but can I find one. Mother is 5ft and a size 12. She will wear 26/27 length in a skirt but I cannot find one anywhere. either too long or not warn enough. Anyone know where i might buy one bearing in mind I have done all the usual big stores and the Edinghburgh Woolen Mill. Getting desperate.

here is a pretty wool one, size 12 petite is 27" long.

Boden have some nice cord or moleskin skirts, their 'long' is 25" long.

Or youcould buy one and get the dressmaker to take it up to the length you want.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Have you checked out this website Sabrina.  http://www.carrandwestley.co.uk/women/classic-skirts
They appear a little costly but if you were to employ the services of a dressmaker, buy the fabric, pattern, zip etc it would soon add up to at least the amount you can buy off this website.  My sister and mother are dressmakers so I know how expensive it can be (and they don't charge what others do).
At Carr and Westley you can chose the skirt length too.

I believe that alterations can be done via a dry cleaners. Do you have one nearby?
