Our vet swears by it, we avoided drugs for 3years, but it really seems to have done the trick, she (the vet) reccomends that we used diazipan again next year and that we drug the dog at about 3pm before the noise starts

Tablets are expensive, I think you need to target a specific thing with them, so if the noise is just general shooting I'm not sure how ths could be achieved?

As Rascal cannot see well he is scared of everything. If a person wears dark clothing he goes mental. He is so toy obsessed that we use this to distract him from the things he does worry about. He will be going into kennels for the first time when we go to a wedding in May, this is such a worry as he is frighten of other dogs but the kennel owner has agreed that we can bring him on visits nearer the time to get used to the place.
