Hi, i was wondering where the cheapest place would be (in Scotland) for buying bales of straw. i have a pig and he is in his bed shivering. he is cosy enough but i feel a bit sorry for him so if anyone can help...

Transport is often a lot of the cost so I would think the farm next door/next door but one would be the best as you could get them to dump a round bale (if outside storage you can cover with a tarpaulin weighted down).

Jennapiggy, you don't say where you are, which would help 
I used a site on the net which you could enter your postcode in and it showed your nearest supplier, but I can't find it now  Yell.com would probably be a good place to start.

But, the best thing to keep your pig warm, is ANOTHER PIG ! They can snuggle into each other for warmth. They're incredibly social herd animals, one on it's own is going to be sad, lonely and might even become depressed.  Think how cold your boy looks now and imagine him on his own when it gets to minus 10 or 15 - no amount of straw will keep his as warm as another porcine pal would
