I've heard of other doing that cross for natural incubating machines and for sexing   they too were very successful.  I keep all my growers in same size pens, pheasant ones but taller so I don't break my back.  They are the best bit of kit I have. They have boards along the bottoms that protect the youngsters from cross winds.  I had masses of utility strain Sussex once, I just loved the speckled although I think the White were better birds, really hardy, no nonsense type of chickens.
