Any smallholders near Edinburgh keep goats?
« on: September 21, 2012, 06:08:13 pm »
Hello smallholders,

I have recently moved to Edinburgh to finally (after 10 years of faffing) - become a vet. I am a budding 'future' smallholder and have recently begun hand-making soap. I am a big fan of making it with goats milk and I a
m wondering if there might be any smallholders in the Edinburgh proximity who have some goats milk they could spare me in return for a) lovely soap and b)help on the smallholding if needed. I am really keen to find a local source as I had some lovely connections near Nottingham. You can have a look at my soap website and find out more about me: https://iwantthemoon.wordpress.com/goats-milk-soaps/

I really hope someone can help!

Hi Sophie - I stay in the Borders, south of Edinburgh, near St Boswells. My OH drives into Edinburgh most days - I currently milk 5 goats...
I have made some batches of soap myself, but not that much time at the moment.
Regards, Anke.

Erm - I don't know whether it's such a good idea to publish private emails for all and sundry to read... You might get unwanted replies. Why don't you pm?

Hi Sophie & welcome from West Scotland
I agree with what Ina & Robert are saying here - it's very clear you are a young woman & though the majority of us TASers are friendly folk, we have had a few unwelcome postings going on & as with any forum, we get lots of guests lurking about too.
To send a PM click on the persons name on the left of their post - this will take you into their profile - then there is a wee menu under their name & avatar (if they use one) - this will give you an option of sending a PM (personal message) which then goes through their email address, without it being made public.
Good to see another vet on here   Are you coming to the SS&GF in Forfar at the end of the month?

Thanks for the advice guys. I am usually very careful with such things.  I've removed the post and figured out how to pm someone!

And thanks re the website comments. Tea soap is quite unusual I've not found it anywhere else yet.

Yes I just found out about the festival next weekend and am currently planning too come up to forfar. What kind of practice are you in beewyched?
