home made bone meal
« on: October 16, 2012, 04:17:40 pm »
Has anyone tried making it? We make stock from accumulated frozen bones and I am fed up with putting them in the bin after. I know composting in the open is not on (don't want to feed rats), so I thought I give the drying in the range a go and then pulverizing. they crumble anyway but are still very wet. Any thoughts? :&>

just leave them in the bottom of the oven spread out on a tray, for a week or 2 they will eventually dry out...

we do it with egg shells for putting round sensitive plants to keep slugs at bay, and even they take a few days, i guess bonemeal would take a week or more...
