Hi I am new

Just so pleased to find this forum!

I live on the Northern Pennines with 4 sheep (Boreray) 6 hens plus cockeril and grow veg somewhat unsuccessfully as seem to be constant battle with the weather and last year midnight raid by tup and wether!

Bit of a novice with sheep so looking forward to being able to ask for help!

Hello Newsheep and welcome to the forum. I'm a bit of a novice with sheep as well. Had some in the past and they just ate grass and then filled the freezer. Chickens are a bit more my area.

  Newsheep from just a bit further north than you.  We're beef and sheep farmers but I have this year taken on some Castlemilk Moorit wethers for fleece and meat.  May get some breeders for next year.

I haven't bothered trying to grow veg; it saves me having to get cross with whichever cattle or sheep (or choox or pigs) got into the veg plot and ransacked it...  :D
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

You are very sensible to steer clear of growing veg, last year was out first year so we bought in a selection of plants, only to find they were all sprouts  ::)  Just as they were ready to pick the tup and wether got into the plot and either ate or flattened the lot.

This year struggling to grow anything, perhaps should have tried rice
