kids who'd have em!
« on: July 17, 2012, 08:21:05 pm »
Well they're not strictly my kids they're my OHs. but he had 4 and i treat them like my own.
My hubby he was a dairy farmer once and when he split with his ex two went with her and two went with him boy and girl with each parent.
His ex did everything she could to steer the two she had away from farming even to the point she banned them from Young Farmers. So i am pleased to say the youngest boy now 20 who came to live with us two years ago is about to graduate from Ag college in farming, and came third in the Shepherds competition at Sheep South.
Our daughter who still lives with my OH' s ex wife, works with me at the General hospital and is heavily involved with our farm.
The eldest son has his own farm and is married and the eldest girl works in a bank! but at least she can recognize a combine harvester and identify a breed of cow.
Moral of this story...... let your kids go their own way cause they will anyway regardless of what you want!!
Needless to say we are dead proud of them all

You are so right. It would be lovely to see our dreams out through our children but they have their own dreams.  In days gone by, children were expected to follow their parents' careers.  How many people were there who lived frustrated lives because they couldn't do what they wanted with their lives?

the great composto

Totally agree Feldar  - let them choose for themselves if they want to be involved & keep their options open.
