new babies
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:02:39 pm »
we waved goodbye to dorothys weaners today, the gilts were 22kg at 8 weeks 2 days.
and we welcomed Nessies new babies, weighing 3 kg!
She was so untext book. never made a nest at all and gave birth about 6pm, not midnight like dorothy.
we missed just the birth and lost one who was still warm when we found it, right next to her vulva, partly covered in its sac.
i dont know if it was born alive or not. any guesses with out disecting it?

are you going to dissect it       some can be born appearing dead but still have a low heartbeat then expire   others can be in the sac and die others take to long to come out and if the cord is broken before they come out it is to late         to much internal interference can cause septicemia
you are doing alright at both weights  that is some piglet at 3 kilos :farmer:

Congratulations on the new arrivals, perfect timing!

The two weaners we collected from you on Saturday are have settled in very well and are delightful little pigs.  My Kids can’t keep away from them and the pigs seem to feel the same about the kids.

I’m not going to tell them you have more piglets!
