Just let the dog out and saw the biggest meteor Ive ever seen.
It lit the sky up then faded into nothing.
Im in aberdeenshire and just to let you know - it was heading south.
This was better than seeing a comet.
Life's wonders never cease to amaze me.

Wonder if it'll reach Shropshire.

It passed here soon afterwards - BH came in to tell me he'd seen something that wasn't a plane and wasn't a shooting star.  It was much nearer, brighter and slower than a meteor, he said.  But exactly as BangBang describes, he said it was very bright, crossed the sky, sinking and fading into nothing.

We're in north Cumbria, about 10 miles south of the Scottish border and about 10 miles east of Carlisle.

Thanks SallyintNorth,
I didn,t want to go to much into detail in case I was labelled a Nutter.
Your BH is right it was larger than a plane, flat bright and quiet.
It was definately slow. I had time to call Brucklay and she witnessed the last few seconds of its
demise.
Ive just checked the news and it was a meteor - oh, well there goes my UFO theory

Sure it wasn't a UFO?  ;)

Shame, I always miss these interesting things in the sky - tend to be in bed very early...

There's a couple of really bright stars in the sky at the moment, close to each other, anyone know what they are?
