Quail with a stye
« on: January 20, 2012, 01:56:49 pm »
one of my girls has a sty on her bottom eye lid. Any ideas on a treatment ? It's about 3mm long luckily it is pointing away from her eye and there is no swelling. It dose not seem to bother her in any way, but it bothers me. So any advice would be great.

In humans (I was a dispensing optician in a prior life  ;)) the easiest way to self treat is either holding a cooled teabag over the area and bathing it with a strong lukewarm tea solution for a few days. The tannin helps draw it out. Can't imagine it'll be easy putting a teabag on her head  :D but I'd try bathing it with cool, strong tea - it won't do any harm

or hold a gold ring on it ( less than 22 carat) as a bit of nickel helps.
We thought a duck of ours had a white stye but was told it could be the third eyelid ! ? ?  Whatever - it was only visible for 3 days.
hope all is OK

I wonder if a tiny bit of seed or something is in there to start off the sty?
