I said I'd spread the word for a chap who contacted me in response to my search for Castlemilk Moorit wethers.

He is having to sell some Castlemilk Moorit ewes.  They are purebred but not registered.  Although they could be registered he thinks they probably should not be as there was some accidental incest!  The ewes are fine, perfectly healthy, fine for breeding - but obviously not for breeding pedigree Castlemilk Moorits.  They could be of interest to spinners, for instance, to put some of this very fine short staple wool into your flock and clip.  They'll cross readily with Shetlands or other primitive types.

He is close to sending them to the mart where he would expect them to be destined for the abbatoir.

He would rather spare them the experience of the mart, even if someone only wanted them for their own freezer.  But ideally someone would like to keep them as breeders.

If you are interested, PM me and I'll pass on his contact details.

(And yes, tizaala, I'll have some of these if I can't get my wethers.  I hope to hear more about that next week.  Fingers crossed!)

Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

I wish I  were nearer, I would have a couple to put in with my Shetlands.  :(
