More mixed weather on the way during the next few days, but then signs of a change! On Wednesday early rain will clear away from the south east to leave drier conditions in these parts. In northern regions further rain will move in from the west, and then extend south and east through the afternoon. As we head through the second half of the week it will continue changeable, especially in the north, but there are signs of improvement as pressure begins to rise from south. By the beginning of next week it could be turning warm in southern and central regions with temperatures heading up towards 25C (77F), leading to talk of an Indian summer. We'll be keeping an eye on this as the end of the month approaches, because there is a quite widely held view that dry and warm weather in October is often followed by a cold winter.Looking further ahead, high pressure is very likely to play a major role in our weather into next week and perhaps even beyond. It's currently expected to settle to the east of the British Isles so western parts will have the higher risk of weather fronts brushing close by from time to time but there should be a good deal of settled and warm weather on offer for many.
