My I has fallen off
« on: September 13, 2011, 11:43:47 pm »
My I on my laptop .....not the eye on my face, that is.  I have put it back on, but its wonky, and I have to press it really hard, and sometimes it does not work.  So when there are I's missing in my post, its not my spelling!

In the olden days, on my trusty old Remington typewriter I never had this problem ...it had proper keys!!

 :)  Naughty pups!!

I have not had this laptop a year - hubby says I have hammered it, but I haven't!!  Things are not made to last nowadays, they want you to go out and buy a new one I suppose!!.

I left the lap top on the kitchen table out of reach at the time, but, the cable tie must have been hanging down so they pulled it off when I went for a shower, I came out and thought it was very amusing in some ways as vertualy ALL the keys were all over the floor and as I picked them up I had no idea where they went...also some were totaly chewed up!!!!!!!! My brough in law is in IT and bought us a replacement, trouble is he forgets it each time he visits...the lap top was my pryde and joy but not so fond of it since pluging in another key board to it!!!!

Your right, stuff is not ment to last very long at all......you must use your I a lot then to wear it out....we tend to wear out direction buttons due to pac man or tetris ::)

I am living with my first laptop after decades on desktops and I must say that the keys can be dodgy (don't even mention the touch pad  :o) . Mine had some sticky keys for a few months until they were "broken in", I suppose....Roxy, until you can have it sorted, why not plug in a keybord via the USB? :&>

Search on YouTube for laptop key repairs - there are loads of videos and a good chance one of them will cover your model.

Thank you Dan - and plugging in a keyboard is a good idea in the meantime.

Just thought - I am covered for repairs on the laptop - will a dodgy key be included in that?  Seeing as I am paying every month, may as well make use of it.  Trouble is, if it goes in there, may not see it for weeks.  May try and DIY it!!
