The bird The Burfords are placid, almost docile, have a sociable temperament and love people and children, which makes them the perfect choice for pets. Like people, they need lots of exercise to prevent them from becoming overweight and getting bored. Large, stalwart and compact with a medium length body, generous in width and depth and a well-fleshed breast, they are active and carry their tails high. The refined face features large eyes with a prominent, well-defined pupil and particularly red cheeks, comb and wattles.
The comb is single and erect, the wattles are medium sized and both have a fine texture. The legs have good bone, are wide apart, and the thighs well fleshed. The Burfords make wonderful pets, are very sociable, and love human company.Developed in the Cotswolds in 1990 from the line used in the 1940's by Philip's grandmother, Mabel Pearman who lived most of her life at Westhall Hill, Burford, with her husband Tom, a well known farmer and horse breeder. The Burford Brown's famous eggs can now be seen in many of London's leading stores and restaurants as well as in food stores throughout the UK under the Clarence Court label.
Burford Browns are kept by well known TV personalities, film stars, famous names in motor racing, horse racing, industry, and Royalty, both in this Country and abroad.                        Well I'm planing bringing them to Scotland iv naw hatched 8 young chicks and i no they breed true iv also done a DNA on them so i will be getting cockerels for them i hope to sell eggs to smallholders Art a low cost so i can get more people keeping this breed the eggs are sold Art a very high price 6 eggs fetch £20 and not much chance to get started the hens that have been for sale fetch £25 each so the race is on .IL up date on haw things go.iv already got the Cotswold Legbars laying .price for  2011 for the hens                                                                                                                                 http://www.legbarsofbroadway.co.uk/buy%20hens/
