I don't know if I'm being totally blond but i have been redoing the fencing around the edge of the property as it very old. I've reused as much as is possible and am now left with a pile of old wire, looking around here the farmers seem to just leave it on the Fields but i would worry that something would become stuck in it and the fact it looks unsightly. What do i do with it now? dose it go to the dump!!!?? I'm lost and feel really silly can it be recycled?? HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Wrap it up as neatly as you can,chuck it all into a sack and leave it the back of the workshop or garage. You'll be amazed how many times a bit of old wire will come in handy,even if it's just retying fencing to tensioning wires or building obelisks for sweetpeas to grow up. But,to answer your question,yes it can be recycled at the tip......Ree

Great idea thanx, but way to much there to keep it all!! down the tip i go then i think, i hate the stuff!! seen so many animals hurt by it!!

Guess you mean barbed wire then.  I agree - get rid of it at the tip!  I heard of a Large Munsterlander killed by that horrid stuff - it snapped as she jumped it when out working with her owner and it spun back and encased her in it - vet was there in 10 minutes to put her down but it was a horrible way to live her last few minutes,

Got both barbed and netting! i train young horses and seen many take flite not stopping before reaching it, usally ending with a foot caught in it, then pannic and pull back, so the wire tightens and they pull more, not nice! Never had much problem with the other animals although have had a goat get her horns stuck and she just stood there yelling her head off, never went near it again after that.

and you'll be surprised that there are folks which need exactly what you are wanting to get rid of! Even old rope (or bits of wire), honestly!

 lol ....once I have the little foundry set up , I intend to melt down scrap cars , as well as use bits of the car to make things like cold chisels etc . Lots of cast iron on cars and even mild steel panels will melt and make good items. To do this I will be making a cupola type furnace out of the big old orange gas bottles ( empty of gas ...lol). These can be run on charcoal also , and can melt tons of iron a day . I intend to try and make the old single horse mowers and binder reapers and horse ploughs too. Maybe even old roller mill grinders and feed choppers. as of old . Anything like that really that was made from cast iron . Running out of years to do it , but I will get there .  In the mean time I will try making some of the things out of an ali mix called ZA12 . As strong as cast iron but very much lighter ....Anyway ... post rammers....mmmmm

Never thought of that, down in Llanybydder last thursday, should have brought it with me.  could do with a horse drawn mower though!
