Have done it!
« on: May 02, 2011, 10:04:49 pm »
We visited Wood Green today, and ended up reserving ourselves 2 gorgeous pygmy goats by the names of Peter and Jemima.  They are 4 years old, and very friendly and pretty.  They are coming to check our paddock is safe for our little guys, then they should be here soon!  We did fall in love with a couple of Anglo-Nubians who were there too, they were the friendliest out of the whole lot, came straight over to us for cuddles and wouldnt leave us at all, but we decided that the pygmys are more practical for us.  She said they are struggling to rehome goats at the moment, the herd from which ours are coming have been in there for 6 months or more!

Many congratulations on your new additions to the family! Please can you post some piccies when you get them?Ive just come back from the bottom field, where I have been basking in sunshine whilst giving little Toby a lovely cuddle. He is a really cuddly boy, he loves them and doesnt seem to want to be put down afterwards! I just hope that I can persuade Billy that cuddles are lovely so that he wants them too. Ive only managed one so far with him.
Trouble is, now I really smell of goat!! I really must book their appointments with the vet tomorrow to get them in asap! ;D

I can already spend hours in the orchard with the hens pecking round my feet and jumping on my lap, looks like I'm going to have to give up work when the goats arrive! (if only!!)

The other day, the sun was shining and I was down in the bottom field with the boys and the chooks. We were having a wonderful bonding session, the chooks were getting involved with the boys, popping their heads through to their little paddock to say "Hi". Later on, I told my hubby about it, and said that really, life doesnt get much better than this. Our life in the UK was so different to the life we lead now, its much simpler here, we no longer keep up with the Joneses, we no longer worry about having flash cars, or the latest mobile phone etc. Its just the simple pleasures that Mother Nature and our animals give us on a daily basis.
