Hi from Wales also
« on: April 06, 2011, 09:33:46 am »
Sorry, posted without introducing myself - very bad form!

I live with my husband in a traditional Welsh stone cottage on our smallholding not too far away from the coast. We moved here about 8 years ago when my husband retired. We have kept a variety of livestock - cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks and horses since we married 37 years ago but now mainly concentrate on our Dexters (the curious can see some photos of them on my web site www.alvecotedexters.net).

Old habits die hard, so we fatten a couple of weaners every year on our surplus milk and have recently started again with a few sheep and chickens for eggs. We have a polytunnel, greenhouse, veg garden and orchard so I guess you could say we are now pretty self sufficient here .... and quite busy.

My other half has really took to them.  They have just had their hair cut - early I know but you can never get a shearer later on in the year.  They have plenty to eat and are quite snug in their sheep shelter.

Welcome from Brittany, where the new born piglets are acting like spring lambs.
