Rosettes - what to do with them
« on: January 10, 2009, 11:02:17 pm »
I have a heap of old dog show rosettes - don't want to just bin them as they were hard won by my dogs.  I tried freecycle but no takers as yet - anyone got any good ideas for a good home for them.  Somebody mentioned giving them to a school but not sure if they'd want them?

Its a good question, we have the same problem with the goats rosettes. Its at the point now where I only keep the really special ones and I just bin the place ones. Some shows we donate them back to so that they can use them the following year. Children do enjoy playing with them, so a school or nursery might not be a bad idea.

The problem is the pins on the back - they would have to be removed before giving them to the kids and I doubt the teachers have time for that.  I'll ask my daughter as she was a nursery teacher till the children came along.  I only keep best of breeds, best puppies and best in shows now - I put them on cork pin boards and hang them in the study - 6 boards and counting.

Hi,

You could also offer them to a craft club - I reckon a wee bit of card over the centre bit and you could turn them into Happy Birthday badges and mount them up onto cards !

I think they may be a bit big for that. :o  However, as a member of Clacks Crafters I'll take them to the next meeting I go to (week Wednesday as we have Central S Smallholders this Wed) unless someone asks fro tehm in teh meantime.
