Hello from North Carolina
« on: December 16, 2008, 12:26:48 am »
We were looking for land when we were younger...a long time ago. :)  We were at the end of the 1/2 mile drive to my parents home when my wife pointed out a dusty realtor sign...eventhough we were certain we couldn't afford it we made an offer...and they accepted.  It was all just an accident.

Our accidental farm is called Red Bay Farm.  It is really a very very modest family tree farm of about 46 acres.  Uniquely, we were able to purchase a very modest suburban home with a lot that coincidentally ajoins our property.  Another accident.

Why Red Bay Farm...the Red Bay is a native American tree.  We use the leaves as one would use tropical bay leaves.  In fact just a couple of days ago I used the recipe to prepare a venison stock from a deer I harvested from our forest a few days earlier.

Here is a link to the recipe if anyone is interested.  http://www.redbayfarm.com/Recipes.html

Have already much enjoyed reading posts and look forward to learning from you all.

Well my neighbor just killed an Angus bull...$2.50 a pound...no antibiotics or hormones.  I think I'll buy a few pounds.

Best Regards,
Jim

Welcome to TAS, one of the very nicest sites on the www.  Not sure of dollar/euro conversion but the angus sounds extremely cheap, in your position I can imagine myself buying a new very large freezer and mortgaging the husband in order to buy loads and loads.  HM :pig:

Hi and welcome.

Love the name "Red Bay" - should be a horse farm.
