Did anyone see Jamies Dream School?

The new Jamie Oliver venture was of particular interest to me due to my new venture re Dyslexia. I enjoyed it and was so mad when David Starkey, was completely out of touch with young people, particularly those who have no interest in education, when he lost it and called one boy "fat" I thought all hell would break loose, I think due to cameras being there no physical things happened, although I got to wondering, why these inspirational teachers were not pre warned not to treat the students disrespectfully, they were set up for the production of the programme to make more interesting TV I think.

I worked with disaffected children and have seen this thing happen all the time, teachers come into a class and talk down to their students and then wonder why they get the response. I was a mature student at college when we were being introduced to our tutors, one girl in the class was there due to a GBH charge, her dad was a crack dealer and she was some one you would NOT mess with, the Tutor for a start called her "Lad"!! then it went on from there, all I am saying is, I have worked in this field and although do not always get respect myself instantly in time I do, as I talk to the students as I would ANY one else. I could go on, then you get Professor Winston, he had a brilliant approach but not that understanding that not all people, particularly, young people, like blood and guts in their face, another no no for the first stage of getting them back into education.I loved the  way Ellen MacArthu treated the young people who went with her sailing, she was respectful herself. The best one I saw was Rolf Harris, he was like it should be, the young people are not used to being quiet and listening, that comes when you get to them, I am looking forward to further programmes but cannot help wondering if the start was a bit of a set up, even the most wonderful inspirational people are not always good at interaction with others. I would love your views as I have far too much to say on this subject, observing in some classes you can see that some teachers wind up the pupils!! (sorry for any teacher out there, remember, been there done that too although never qualified I have had to deal with some of the worse)

Missed it - I was out all day and had to fit things around before and after like the old days and it knackered me so I ended up in bed rather than in front the TV ::)

Will try and see it next time, thanks for the reminder :)
