cockerel help devon

today we lost our beloved bertie!  our ex-batts are devastated as they relied on him to keep them safe and happy.

i am no breed expert as he was a rescue case himself but i believe he was a copper-black marans who made the move with us when we relocated.

in short we are urgently looking for a young friendly chap who wont squash our girls - breed unimportant.

in return he can have a free range life and be spoilt

can you help please????

We have got as White Bantam x Large (he is medium in size!), he was late hatch last year and has been treading for approx. 3 weeks. We are near Taunton, Somerset.

will try and snap some tomorrow - few feathers flying today while the girls came round to the new boy on the block - he was a last years hatch so not an old hand like bertie.  still he better get the hang of it quick we have arranged to take another 5 ex batts on 19th feb and he'll have to keep the peace once they have had chance to learn how to be real chooks in the safety of the stable!

can't praise ex batts enough - ours have laid for past three years without fail (except when it was below freezing) - not bad considering they are now almost 5!
