Hello,

I live in west Texas (near Abilene) & was interested in purchasing a pig that was ready to go to the butcher.  I'm not sure how the process works, since my grandmother use to do everything for me.  I have a pretty small household; so I don't need anything too big.  If anyone could point me in the right direction or provide pointers on what to look for, I would greatly appreciate it.

Its probably different there, but would start by asking at local feed suppliers to see if anyone has a spare pig for sale, or in local paper.

For advice you could try www.gosamerica.org as they are keepers of the spotty pigs or as Hilary's mum suggested try some of your local commercial hog producers who might have a couple of runt pigs they'd let you have. Do tyr to have two pigs as they are socuiable animals and its quite cruel to keep one on its own unless there is lots of activity and the company of other animals around it. Theres lots of advice on this forum too but obviously the legal aspects & red atpe sife of things will be different in the States.
