i thought i had it bad with 10" in my cellar witch is 30 feet by 20 feet

Hear hear, they really are having it hard down under just now.  My friends in NZ are petrified when another rumble starts.  Goodness knows what sort of state their house foundations are in!

flash floods - remember this is RAIN! India & Pakistan last year, Oz now, it can hit us any time....the eternal optimist  :o :&>

yes I know ... the river is already at bursting point here , but the river is a long way down a steep hill in the valley bottom , so I am ok where I am .  But if it does burst it's banks I will have to go over the hills to get to the horses , instead of using the roads....
