Spring is in the air! I like a cockerel with a bit of something about him, only doing his job and keeps the strain strong I believe. I used to say they were aggressive but now protective and territorial are more the words I would use.Takes some guts to attack a human when you are only a foot high bird.I was attacked quite a few times by my turkey stag today, he was upset cause I was taking his old bedding out, he does not like anything to be removed from his space. Would you rather have a man about the place or a wimp. The only thing you must do is be assertive, ignore him and if he keeps attacking hold his head to the floor for a minute, it does work. Saying that a friend of mine had a cockerel that waited for her on a bridge she had to cross to get to her back door, it went for her once too often and she full thumped it and it went flying across the garden, never bothered her again.
